🥬 Slow Cooker Cabbage and Potatoes
Ingredients:
- 1 large green cabbage, cut into wedges
- 1½ pounds (680 g) potatoes, cut into chunks
- 2 cups (480 ml) chicken broth or vegetable broth
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- ½ teaspoon black pepper
- 1 teaspoon salt, or to taste
- 2 tablespoons butter (optional)
Instructions:
- Wash the cabbage and potatoes thoroughly. Cut the cabbage into large wedges and the potatoes into bite-sized chunks.
- Place the potatoes in the bottom of the slow cooker, then arrange the cabbage wedges on top.
- Sprinkle with salt, black pepper, and garlic powder.
- Pour the broth over the vegetables and add butter if desired.
- Cover and cook on LOW for 6–8 hours or HIGH for 3–4 hours, until the potatoes are tender and the cabbage is soft.
- Gently stir before serving and spoon some of the flavorful cooking juices over the vegetables.
Serving suggestion: Serve warm as a comforting side dish or add smoked sausage for a heartier meal.
Tip: Keep the cabbage in large wedges so it holds its shape during slow cooking. Cooking times may vary depending on the size of the vegetables and your slow cooker.
